Meeting Minutes
Tuesday, October 5, 2010
5:30 p.m.

Present: Meghann Ackerman, Shawn Newton, Conrad Prosniewski, Jean Rockett, Scott Weisberg (chair)

ADL Cyberbullying Conference: Scott told the Committee about a cyberbullying workshop the ADL was holing in Boston at the end of October and said Committee members could attend if they wanted.

Conrad updated the Committee on an incident of anti-Semitic text messages that was reported by a resident at the last meeting. Conrad said the man who allegedly sent them had been charged with making threats and civil rights violations. Shawn said the defendant was a Salem State student and that he would be called in to discuss what happened.

Memorial: A new location, in a grassy area near Rockafellas, was proposed for the memorial. Meghann explained that the City had planned to fix up the area with plantings and possibly benches. It is also a heavily traveled area that many people would see. The Committee liked the new location.

Shawn said Colonial Engravers could do the engraving for the memorial and that it would take about a month.

Other business: Jean said Old and Bold was getting more active on the North Shore and working with the transgender community.

The meeting adjourned at 6:30 p.m.
